Minimalistic and honest, at the same time elegant and filigree
Minimalistic and honest, at the same time elegant and fine: the 118 chair is a classic wooden chair that adds subtle elegance to any dining table or restaurant. The principle of reducing a chair to the fewest elements possible was introduced by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century. The 118 chair is a continuation of this principle and, with a nod to the company's heritage, it takes it one step further. Sebastian Herkner added sophisticated details, which make the design less dominant and therefore even more distinguished. The shape of the chair’s legs is another special feature: rounded on the outer side, straight on the inner side – a design that alludes to the horseshoe shape of the seating surface. The bentwood seat frame and the handcrafted seat covered with canework refer to the 214, the archetype of a Thonet chair. Model 118F has armrests and is the newest addition to the collection and offers maximum comfort. The bentwood armrests are pleasing to the touch thanks to the slight curvature on their upper side. They provide support and a feeling of cocooned comfort. Combined with one another, the models from the 118 range create a harmonious seating arrangement around the table, embodying liveliness and encouraging guests to linger.
Range 118 is a collection of elegant wooden chairs, including two barstools. Its clear lines lend a subtle elegance to any setting – be it a private dining room, a restaurant, café or even in New Work environments, such as co-working spaces. The collection includes versions in stained or high-gloss colours and the seat is available in moulded plywood, wickerwork or with upholstery.
Stained beech available in 5 colors and six expressive high-gloss colors. The new lacquer-finish lends a luxurious look to the chairs, making them a visual highlight in any room.
