Information about the Chair
The Indian architectural practice Studio Mumbai, founded by Bijoy Jain in 2005, has developed a body of work that continues to reference aspects of both Indian and Western cultures. What sets the studio apart is a brilliant combination of tradition and modernity. Local resources and Indian craftsmanship form the basis for highly contemporary architectural designs. Thoughtful and uncompromising to the last detail, the architecture of Studio Mumbai shows a deep concern for the relationship between man and nature and insists on the importance of the genius loci.
The furniture by Studio Mumbai for MANIERA are a result of an ongoing process of refinement and study in material, form and function. The pieces take inspiration from traditional craftsmanship found across the world and emerge from a directness of approach between material and man, enabled by simple tools and manipulated with gestures of the hand.
The hand-made Dining Chair II in teak is available with bimal rope woven around its angular frames. For the Biennale’s ‘Please, Have a Seat’ project MANIERA developed an upholstered version of the chair in collaboration with Cover & Couch. The rope is replaced by fabric from Belgian brand Bruder Fabrics specialised in sober natural linen fabrics with beautiful rustic textures.

This is the Privacy Policy of Biennale Interieur BV. This Privacy Policy is intended to inform you about the processing of personal data that takes place by scanning the QR codes at the Please have a seat event of Biennale Interieur BV (“Please have a seat”).
I. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
Please have a seat is an organisation of Biennale Interieur BV which is the controller for the processing of your personal data. Biennale Interieur BV is a private company governed by Belgian law, with its registered office at Groeningestraat 37 8500 Kortrijk and registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises under number 0409864392 (“Biennale BV” or “we”).
II. WHAT DATA DO WE PROCESS?
We process your e-mail address as well as any other personal data that can be deduced from your e-mail address if you provide us with your e-mail address yourself after scanning a QR code on Please have a seat.
III. WHY DO WE PROCESS YOUR DATA?
We transfer your personal data to the exhibitors of your choice to enable them to contact you about the products you are interested in and send you commercial messages. When you scan the QR code of an exhibitor of your choice, you indicate that you wish to be kept informed of the activities of that exhibitor. The exhibitors use these data to inform you about matters which could be of interest to you.
The processing of these data is based on your consent. You are free to choose to provide us with your personal data for this purpose, and you may withdraw your consent at any time (cf. Question VII).
IV. WHO HAS ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
Except for the transfer of your personal data to the exhibitors of your choice, Biennale BV does not transfer any personal data to third parties or engage third parties (processors) to carry out certain (processing) activities.
V. HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA AND HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
Biennale BV will take appropriate organisational and technical measures, taking into account the state of the art, the nature of processing and the potential risks, to protect your personal data in the best way possible from destruction, loss, modification or any other unauthorised processing.
Biennale BV does not store your personal data longer than necessary for the purposes for which they are processed, taking into account the legal retention obligations.
For example, your personal data transferred for the purpose of enabling the exhibitors to contact you will only be stored until the time that Biennale BV has provided the personal data to the exhibitors after the end of the event.
VI. DO WE TRANSFER YOUR PERSONAL DATA OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA?
Biennale BV does not process your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
VII. HOW CAN YOU EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS?
You have the right to request free access to the personal data processed by Biennale BV, to request the correction or removal of your data or to request a restriction of the processing. You may also request the portability of your data and you may object to the processing of your personal data, without substantiation in the case of direct marketing, or substantiated in other cases.
When the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing based on consent before the withdrawal.
