The Floor Is Yours

Biennale Interieur and its curatorial team launch The Floor is Yours: an open call which will allocate floor space to inspiring installations by young talent and new designer-driven labels.

Previous editions of the Biennale Interieur saw the Young Designers Fair and Ventura Interieur pop up at the lower level of Kortrijk Xpo and in the city centre. INTERIEUR 2016 is making a bold statement by uniting avant-garde initiatives under the Floor is Yours umbrella at the heart of the show. No dark corners or forgotten corridors, the Floor is Yours will take central stage at Kortrijk Xpo.

The Floor Is Yours will get a strategic and central position in Hall 5 of Kortrijk Xpo.

The Floor Is Yours is a new format that takes into account the rapidly changing environment of the design industry. The Floor is Yours is here to show a new economy of goods: furniture, objects, accessories and ideas for living that are in many cases directly produced and available from the creators.

The focus is on a ‘complete’ setting. Inspiration was taken from the Silver Lining – Interiors theme of curators OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, which does not only focus on individual objects, but strives for the creation of complete spatial experiences.

We particularly pay attention to the scenography of your installation. We believe that sharing is rewarding and that combined efforts of multiple parties to create a unique setting can lead to better results.

Who is it for?

Proposals are welcomed by the young, talented and avant garde: international designers, architects, studios, collectives and new designer-driven labels as well as academies, institutions and design councils with the ambition to show great work through the means of a unique installation.

  • To promote your work directly to consumers, who are in search of new and different design.
  • To expand your network with retailers, architects, manufacturers and suppliers.
