Anja Sopic / Germany

Anja Sopic: Ghost. When Form Follows Failure. At the interface of art and design, Anja Sopic’s furniture objects are primarily vehicles to visualize the design process. As a result, a presentation – such as in this exhibition – does not necessarily culminate in the display of the piece of furniture, but limits itself to documenting this process. For The Wall, Sopic created an installation that “reflects on values and rules within both the design practice and consumer culture.” It consists of two framed drawings dealing with the development of her Ghost lamp, and two mirrors that are “metaphors disclosing a vision of design as being a form of expression that is relieved from restrictions, incorporating the possibility of failure as a valued element within the overall equation.”
