European Capital of Culture 2015
At the Broel School in the city, the 2015 Cultural Capital of Europe will be present with a teaser from the ‘Till we drop’ exhibition of Jean-Paul Lespagnard, the work in progress of a special Mons 2015 object from Alain Berteau for the future Keramis center, a dressed table with designer pieces from the WCC, the announcement of an installation by food designer Francesca Sarti and a collaboration between La Maison du Design and Studio Simple amongst others. And last but not least: Mons 2015 invites visitors to create their own original accessory to get ready to shine on their opening night on the 24th of January 2015. It’s not a Fablab but an elementary workshop with originals silver materials, scissors, tape, etc., where visitors can get hands-on and create a personal exceptional gadget in a short timeframe.
Mons 2015 will also be present at the exhibition halls of Kortrijk Xpo with a « teaser » of Jasper Morrison's first retrospective showing at the Grand Hornu Images during summer 2015.
In 2015 Mons is the European Capital of Culture. There will be more than 300 projects, 17 partner cities across Belgium and France, 22 famous cultural partners and thousands of participants. A real cultural firework of exhibitions, theatre, music, design, fashion, literature and new experiences. Mons will undergo a transformation, leaving no corner or inhabitant untouched. A programme which will inspire, awe and delight but also stimulate the mind and shake your senses.
The countdown has begun. The explosive city is getting ready and is already sparkling. Save the date and come to the Opening Ceremony on 24.01.2015 where the wonder begins.
